REGARDING YOUR ABILITY TO WORK WITH CHILDREN:

In order to provide a safe and secure environment for campers, we believe it is necessary to ask the following questions as part of our application process. All information will be kept in confidence by the camp’s leadership team and will not be disclosed by the camp unless required by law. Please answer YES or NO to the questions. Answering “yes” may not necessarily prevent you from volunteering with the camp.

HORSE EXPERIENCE:

A distinctive of J2K Ministries is our focus on spending time with our horses.

Staff at HPWC can expect to go on Trail Rides lasting from 3-5 hours.  Wranglers will accompany all rides, while other staff will take turns to ensure there are enough horses for the campers.

All staff at SCM are expected to be comfortable with horses, including saddling/unsaddling, riding in hilly terrain, and confident in basic riding skills.  Rides at SMC are anywhere from 4-8 hours by the time we leave and return to camp.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING STATEMENTS:

Signing the application signifies your agreement with these statements.

  • In order to decide my suitability for volunteer/paid ministry in this organization, I hereby give the designated leadership of J2K Ministries consent to: verify the information provided by me in this Summer Staff Application; contact the references and employers listed in this application; and, to obtain and verify any information from them and any other persons that the camp determines to be relevant to my position.
  • I further grant J2K Ministries permission to perform an internet search on me and to review and consider any information found posted by me on the Internet. 
  • I understand that if J2K Ministries approves my volunteer/paid application and later determines, in its discretion, at any time that I am not suitable for volunteer/paid services in J2K Ministries or for the volunteer/paid position for which I am applying, the leadership may terminate my volunteer/paid position for any reason without advance notice. I will be compensated for 2 weeks of pro-rated salary.
  • If J2K Ministries approves my application for a volunteer/paid position, I may be asked (but not necessarily asked) to sign documents including, but not limited to: Training Completion Forms, Volunteer Agreement Forms, and any other form that is necessary for documentation of activities, training, or for information recording/tracking and reporting that the camp requires. I will at all times cooperate fully with the camp leadership in the fulfillment of my duties and will keep all sensitive information I encounter in my role as a volunteer, confidential.
  • If at any time, I determine that for any reason I am unable to support or adhere to or follow the policies, procedures or doctrine of J2K Ministries, I will inform the camp leadership and will resign my volunteer/paid position.  If I choose to resign I understand that I will forfeit the 2-weeks of severance pay.

CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK PROCESS:

It is the policy of J2K Ministries to require a Criminal Record Check (CRC) from all our staff prior to being accepted for a volunteer/paid position working with youth. You will be provided with a letter from Director Aaron Harbidge requesting that the RCMP waive the usual Record Check Fee.

Failure to submit a completed CRC or Vulnerable Sector Check prior to the start of camp may result in the rejection of your application. J2K Ministries reserves the right to refuse any staff member a position on our team if their CRC and Vulnerable Sector Check is not submitted by the start of camp.
